Quick answer: Namma Metro's elevated Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere is confirmed for inauguration on Friday 13 November 2026, taking the operational network past 100 km to 103.6 km. As of 8 Nov 2026, Lokazen counts 1,105 active outlets within 800 m of the six CMRS-named stations, and 812 gain a first walkable metro.
When does Bengaluru's Pink Line open?
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said it is official: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the elevated Pink Line on 13 November 2026 (The Hindu, 4 Nov 2026; also India Today, 4 Nov 2026). Moneycontrol reported the same date on 2 November, after the Prime Minister's Office confirmed the Bengaluru visit (Moneycontrol, 2 Nov 2026).
The stretch is the 7.5 km elevated section from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere. Opening it takes Namma Metro's operational network from 96.1 km to 103.6 km, past 100 km for the first time (India Today, 4 Nov 2026; Moneycontrol, 2 Nov 2026). Jayadeva Hospital is the interchange with the Yellow Line.
- What opens: the 7.5 km elevated Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere.
- Confirmed stations in CMRS coverage: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B (also called IIMB or IIMB-Bilekahalli), JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital, Tavarekere.
- Not in this opening: the remaining underground Pink Line toward Nagawara, still reported for 2027.
The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety cleared the elevated section on 28 October 2026 (Indian Express, 28 Oct 2026). Before a date was set, the minister said BMRCL was ready to launch public service once the Centre gave an inauguration date. India Today, quoting Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, reported that the Prime Minister will travel from Tavarekere to IIMB-Bilekahalli station and launch the services. Coverage treats 13 November as the inauguration that starts passenger service on this elevated stretch. This page does not invent a separate public-service timetable.
How many shops sit within a walk of the new stations?
As of 8 Nov 2026, Lokazen counts 1,105 active outlets within 800 m of those six stations, assigning each outlet to its nearest stop so nothing is counted twice. Of those, 812 have no operating metro within 800 m today. A 24 October snapshot of the same six stations counted 1,091 outlets, with 846 then gaining first walkable metro. For the full station-by-station shop map written when no date had been set, see the Pink Line station shop map for Bannerghatta Road.
| Station | Outlets within 800 m | F&B / retail / wellness |
|---|---|---|
| JP Nagar 4th Phase | 252 | 150 / 67 / 26 |
| IIMB | 244 | 112 / 72 / 57 |
| Jayadeva Hospital | 242 | 116 / 68 / 45 |
| Hulimavu | 172 | 74 / 64 / 30 |
| Tavarekere | 150 | 77 / 53 / 19 |
| Kalena Agrahara | 45 | 25 / 16 / 3 |
Citywide, Bangalore has 47,155 active outlets as of 8 Nov 2026, of which 2,184 sit inside 39 malls. On this corridor, 109 of the 1,105 outlets are mall-tagged, and 833 of the 1,105 carry a South zone tag. The mix is F&B-led: 554 food and beverage, 340 retail and 180 wellness or personal-care outlets (salon, gym, spa, pharmacy, beauty and yoga).
The change is largest at the southern end. Kalena Agrahara (45), Hulimavu (172) and IIMB (244) together hold 461 outlets, and all 461 gain first walkable metro access. Jayadeva Hospital already sits on the Yellow Line: 235 of its 242 nearby outlets are already within 800 m of an operating station, so Pink Line adds a second line there, not first access. JP Nagar 4th Phase is the densest new catchment at 252 outlets, including 64 mall-tagged rows.
Do six stations open on 13 November, or seven?
Sources disagree, so we state only what each one names. The CMRS inspection covered six stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere (The Hindu, 9 Oct 2026). The 28 October clearance story listed the same six (Indian Express, 28 Oct 2026). From 2 November, some reports listed seven stations and added Ragigudda (The Hindu BusinessLine, 2 Nov 2026; LiveMint, 3 Nov 2026).
Ragigudda is already an operating Yellow Line station, about 1.3 km west of Jayadeva Hospital toward Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road, not a new stop on the Bannerghatta Road viaduct between Jayadeva and Tavarekere. Until BMRCL publishes an opening-day station list that includes a separate Pink Line Ragigudda, this page treats the six CMRS-named stations as the confirmed elevated stretch and does not add Ragigudda to the 1,105-outlet census.
What should brands do before day one?
Five days is enough to tighten a brief, not enough to treat "Bannerghatta Road" as one catchment. The six stations do not behave the same way.
- Name the southern three stations if you want first-mover frontage. Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu and IIMB hold 461 outlets with no walkable metro today. Footfall patterns there will change most on day one.
- Expect competition at JP Nagar 4th Phase. It is already the densest stop (252 outlets, 150 of them F&B, plus a large mall-tagged cluster). A new cafe or QSR needs a clear gap, not a copy of what is already there.
- Treat Jayadeva as an interchange, not a discovery strip. Most shops around it already have Yellow Line access. Pink Line helps cross-line trips more than it creates first metro traffic.
- Match format to commuter flow. Cafes, QSR, pharmacy and daily needs convert station walks. Destination dining depends less on the new trains.
For the wider road, keep the Bannerghatta Road commercial space guide open beside this update. For how metro access has shown up in rents elsewhere in the city, read Namma Metro and commercial rent in 2026. Do not treat April 2026 rent records as a current ask. Nearby in South Bengaluru, the IKEA city-centre store at Konanakunte Cross is another live reason brands are re-checking Kanakapura Road and the southern catchments.
| If you are | What the 8 Nov census says | Do this before 13 Nov |
|---|---|---|
| A brand hunting first-mover frontage | Kalena Agrahara (45), Hulimavu (172) and IIMB (244) hold 461 outlets with zero walkable metro today | Brief those three stations by name, not only "Bannerghatta Road" |
| A cafe, QSR or daily-needs format | The six catchments are F&B-led (554 of 1,105), and JP Nagar 4th Phase already has 150 F&B outlets | Gap-check the station, then compare with the denser JP Nagar and Jayadeva stops |
| A brand looking at the interchange | Jayadeva Hospital has 242 nearby outlets, and 235 already sit within 800 m of the Yellow Line | Treat this as a second-line interchange, not a first metro |
| An owner near the southern three stations | All 461 nearby outlets gain first walkable access on day one | Update the listing with the station name and walking distance, then list it free |
| An owner near JP Nagar 4th Phase | 252 outlets within 800 m, including 64 mall-tagged rows at Vega City | Price and pitch against a dense, already-served catchment |
What should landlords on Bannerghatta Road do now?
A ground-floor unit 400 m from Hulimavu or IIMB is a different listing from one 3 km from any metro last month. Update the listing before 13 November, then be ready for brand enquiries before anyone has a month of footfall data.
- Southern three stations: add the nearest Pink Line station name and the walking distance.
- Jayadeva: say "Yellow and Pink Line interchange" rather than "new metro", because most shops there already had a walkable station.
- JP Nagar 4th Phase: expect brands to compare your unit with a dense, partly mall-served cluster, not with a greenfield stop.
Lokazen's rent records for this corridor are dated April 2026, before the opening date was confirmed, so this page does not quote a current rent. List the floor plate, frontage, power and walking distance to the named station, then list the unit free on Lokazen.
Sources and scope
Opening date and network length: The Hindu, 4 Nov 2026 (minister's confirmation that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the elevated Pink Line on 13 November, taking the network beyond 100 km); India Today, 4 Nov 2026 (7.5 km elevated stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere; network 103.6 km; Surya quoted on the Tavarekere to IIMB-Bilekahalli ride and launch of services); Moneycontrol, 2 Nov 2026 (PMO visit on 13 November; 96.1 km to 103.6 km; CMRS clearance on 28 October). Safety clearance and the six-station list: Indian Express, 28 Oct 2026; The Hindu, 9 Oct 2026. Later seven-station list including Ragigudda: The Hindu BusinessLine, 2 Nov 2026; LiveMint, 3 Nov 2026. Outlet counts: Lokazen census of active rows in bangalore_brand_outlets as of 8 Nov 2026 (coalesce(is_active, true) and business_status not CLOSED_*). Citywide 47,155 active outlets; 2,184 inside 39 malls. Corridor counts use straight-line distance from published station coordinates in bangalore_metro_stations (OpenStreetMap): Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Interchange and Tavarekere. Each outlet is counted once, at its nearest of those six stations. "Already walkable" uses operating metro stations, including Yellow Line Jayadeva Hospital and Yellow Line Ragigudda. A locality-name regex for Hulimavu, Arekere, Kalena, Gottigere, Bannerghatta, JP Nagar 4th, Tavarekere and Jayadeva returns 641 active rows, the same filter used on 24 October. Category buckets: F&B 554, retail 340, wellness 180, other 31. No rent figures are used as current. Benchmarks, not listings or quotes.

- Will rents go up near Pink Line stations after 13 November?
- Lokazen's corridor rent records date from April 2026, before the opening date was confirmed, so this page does not quote a current figure. Metro access has tended to lift demand for frontage near new stations. Check current asks unit by unit.
